On behalf of our client, a leading sponsor and manager of social and economic infrastructure projects, we're looking for a

Project Accountant

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a portfolio of social infrastructure project companies held within the FTSE 250 listed fund ‘INPP’
  • Management of the day-to-day financial performance of project entities, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with contractual cash-flow and operational obligations
  • Establishing and managing relationships with key project stakeholders including investors, shareholders, local government bodies, lenders, service providers and asset managers
  • Timely and accurate delivery of project reporting requirements including internal quarterly management reporting, annual statutory reporting (mainly UK GAAP with some reporting of key balances to the wider group team under required to prepare the IFRS Group accounts) and senior lender reporting
  • Assist the group treasury team to comply with the senior lender reporting requirements
  • Assist a shared pool of processing and invoicing staff
  • Ensuring project entities remain up to date and compliant with relevant legislation including latest accounting standards, VAT, Hedge accounting, etc
  • Bringing a proactive attitude to identify areas for improvement in the projects including in areas such as project financial performance, operational performance, reporting quality, control improvement and investor returns

Key skills 

  • Qualified accountant with experience of statutory accounts preparation and commercial accounting skills
  • Experience of UKGAAP with knowledge of latest accounting developments. Exposure to IFRS will be advantageous
  • Strong time management skills and ability to deal with a number of activity streams simultaneously
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility of required duties
  • Excellent communication abilities and networking skills to establish and maintain relationships with a number of project stakeholders
  • A proactive approach to deal with issues before they arise
  • Ability to work confidently and closely with both senior level staff and non-finance personnel
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Computer literate with sound excel skill
  • An enthusiasm to add value to the role as well as develop further skills and experience within the company
  • Fluent English
