About the Role

We are seeking an experienced hands-on Chef to join our team on a short-term basis. This role combines practical kitchen duties with staff training and operational oversight. The successful candidate will actively work in the kitchen, preparing and overseeing meals, while also mentoring and training junior staff to maintain high standards of food quality and service. This position is ideal for a proactive culinary professional with extensive experience in high-volume catering environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively work in the kitchen, preparing, cooking, and presenting meals to the highest standards.

  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in food preparation, presentation, hygiene, and safety practices.

  • Oversee and maintain consistent food quality, taste, and presentation across all operations.

  • Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and cost control.

  • Implement and monitor food safety procedures, ensuring full compliance with regulations.

  • Review kitchen operations to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Provide on-the-job coaching and performance feedback to kitchen staff.

  • Collaborate with management to ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: Must hold an EU passport (essential).

  • Experience: Proven experience in high-volume catering environments, such as inflight catering kitchens, cruise liners, universities, schools, hospitals, or large-scale canteens.

  • Hands-on chef experience with strong culinary skills.

  • Leadership and staff training skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and quality control standards.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and lead diverse teams.

  • Good communication and organizational abilities.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required during the contract period.
